Ingress can be at its best when played socially. You are encouraged to reach out and connect with other agents. However, when planning to meet a stranger for the first time, do so in a safe setting.

One caveat, some people just want to play an AR game and do their thing. Try not to be put out if someone just wants to Lone Wolf? Trying to think how to best phrase it, but being social is something I do and recommend others do in order to get more out of the game, but by no means is a requirement, and it would seem antisocial to attempt to browbeat people into being social.
